EA Sports has released a release for new changes to the FUT Store which will arrive on July 16th.
Starting at 17:00 UTC on July 16th, the FUT Store will look a little different, with both standard FUT Packs, and Preview Packs present in the store at the same time.
To prepare for the changes detailed above, there will be a short FUT maintenance taking place at 04:30 UTC July 16th.
NOTE: Any Preview Packs that have been previewed, but not purchased, will no longer be available for purchase following the maintenance, so make sure you have made decisions about those packs ahead of time.
With Festival of FUTBall drawing to a close, this Pitch Notes covers some changes you can expect to see in the FUT Store going forward in FIFA 21.
Let’s dive straight into the changes!
New Look Store
Starting 17:00 UTC (10:00 PT) on July 16th, the FUT Store will look a little different, with both standard FUT Packs, and Preview Packs present in the store at the same time.
In some cases, both a standard version of a FUT Pack, and a Preview Pack of the same type will be available in the FUT Store at the same time. In other cases, the pack offer may only have a Preview or standard version. Standard Packs and Preview Packs of the same type will have the same FUT Coin and/or FIFA Point price.
With the recent UI changes to Preview Packs in Title Update 17, you can tell the difference between a standard FUT Pack and a Preview Pack by:
- The name of the FUT Pack.
- A Preview Pack will have the word ‘Preview’ in the name.
- Example: Premium Gold Preview Pack.
- A Preview Pack will have the word ‘Preview’ in the name.
- The Preview banner and background glow displayed on a Preview Pack that has not yet been previewed.
The image below shows how this will look in the FUT Store to help highlight the differences, with both Standard and Preview versions of the Gold and Premium Gold packs shown.
Both the standard FUT Packs and the Preview Packs will function in the same manner as they did previously, so players will have the option of which FUT Packs they want to engage with.
Pack Probabilities
One thing to note, when viewing the Pack Probabilities of a standard FUT Pack and Preview Pack of the same type, such as a Gold Pack and a Gold Preview Pack, you may see some slight differences between the values, despite the makeup of the packs being the same. The contents of standard FUT Packs and Preview Packs are generated exactly the same way. This variation in Pack Probability displayed is due to how Pack Probabilities are calculated. To quote the key part of the article:
Pack probabilities in FIFA are calculated by simulating the opening of a very large number of each pack type in the FUT Store. The number of packs opened in a simulation varies based on the content within those packs, but it will always be enough to be statistically valid. We then re-run this process with every content update.
This means that, to generate the calculation for Pack Probabilities, both the standard Gold Pack and the Gold Preview Pack were separately run through the above process, which may result in some minor differences in the probabilities shown, despite the makeup of the packs being the same.
