While <strong>PS4 <\/strong>users only against <strong>Xbox One<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the first time ever, plus enjoy cross-play features that make it easier to play against friends. Play together against friends on different platforms as FIFA 23 introduces cross-play for players on the same platform generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Connect with friends and play in 1v1 modes, including Online Friendlies, and in FIFA Ultimate Team in FUT Play A Friend. Plus, compete against players on different platforms in Online Seasons, FUT Online Friendlies, FUT Rivals, FUT Champions, and FUT Online Draft to help you to get into your next online match more easily than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hello everyone, we are Delaney Leatherdale and Liam Caswell, two producers who are very excited to share with you details on the inclusion of cross-play coming to EA SPORTS\u2122 FIFA 23. Cross-play will allow players to compete and play with friends and opponents on different platforms of the same generation in a variety of online game modes in FIFA 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cross-play Overview<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the cross-play test in FIFA 22 to Online Friendlies and Online Seasons, we\u2019re expanding on the availability of cross-play to more game modes for FIFA 23, as well as increasing the number of included platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In FIFA 23, cross-play will be available for players on the same platform generation. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another, and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In FIFA 23, cross-play will be available at launch in FUT Division Rivals (except Co-Op), FUT Champions, FUT Ultimate Online Draft, FUT Online Friendlies (except Co-Op), FUT Play a Friend, Online Friendlies, Online Seasons (except Co-Op Seasons) and the Virtual Bundesliga competitive game mode that is available to players based in Germany. Cross-play is initially enabled for all players when launching FIFA 23 for the first time, provided the platform level settings allow for it, and it can be opted out of at any time (more on that later in this article).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to ensure our product innovation is delivered at quality, and because of the technical intricacies of implementing cross-play, modes that pair players together such as Pro Clubs will not feature cross-play at this time. We see our community&#8217;s feedback, and any potential cross-play updates, changes, and adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note: cross-play availability can potentially be impacted on a platform by platform basis by things like planned or unplanned maintenances, server releases, Title Updates, unexpected downtime, or matchmaking updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-infographic-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1456\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-infographic-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"cross\" class=\"wp-image-46196\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this expansion of cross-play, FIFA 23 will see multiple groupings of the FUT Transfer Market, and we\u2019ll share more information about that further down in this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, we are planning a new social widget called EA Social. EA Social will help bridge the gap between platforms for cross-play, and also allows players further ease of access when finding, adding, and playing with their local-platform and cross-platform friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s dig into other cross-play details.<a><\/a><a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FUT Transfer Market<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the addition of FUT cross-play for FIFA 23, the FUT Transfer Market will be expanded to include cross-platform functionality. The FUT Transfer Market will now be combined within pools of platforms with the exception of PC and Switch, which will continue to have their own separate Transfer Markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Shared FUT Transfer Market Pool&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>PlayStation 4<\/li><li>PlayStation 5<\/li><li>Xbox One<\/li><li>Xbox Series X|S<\/li><li>Stadia<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means that the above platforms will effectively share the same FUT Transfer Market. For example, if you were to list an Item on Stadia, a PlayStation 4 player will be able to see and interact with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Individual FUT Transfer Market<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>PC<ul><li>Pool 1<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Switch<ul><li>Pool 2<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means that the above platforms do not share a FUT Transfer Market with any other platform. This FUT Transfer Market update will apply to all players within FUT, and is not dependent on a player&#8217;s cross-play opt in\/out status.&nbsp;<a><\/a><a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FUT Leaderboards<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With FUT cross-play in FIFA 23, there are a few updates coming to FUT Leaderboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FUT Division Rivals Leaderboard<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the implementation of cross-play, the Elite Top 200 will also have a global leaderboard. Accessing EA Social can be done by following the on screen button prompt in the bottom right corner of the FIFA 23 main menu, and it is also available on additional screens throughout the game, including game mode menus and within the pause menu of online multiplayer matches. Let\u2019s dive deeper into EA Social, and review its functions. Please note, EA Social is still in development and its functionality may change or update over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Friends Tab<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The friends tab within EA Social will display all friends a player has added through their local platform\u2019s friend list, and any friends added via EA Network. While the two friend lists are unique, both are displayed within the EA Social Friends List and both can facilitate invites within all applicable game modes in FIFA 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-1-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1456\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-1-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cross10\" class=\"wp-image-46247\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see above, there are a few unique identifiers in the friends list. Most notably you\u2019ll see a list of online and offline friends, platform indicator icons, and a cross-play incompatibility icon if players are not compatible to play together due to their current cross-play settings. The online and offline friends functionality is similar to FIFA 22, with the exception of the ordering of friends. Local platform friends will appear at the top of your friends list, with all cross-platform friends appearing afterwards for both the online and offline sections.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Offline local platform friends will display their platform name and applicable platform indicator icon. If the offline friend is one who has only been added via EA Network, it will display their EA Account ID with an EA themed icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Platform indicator icons help represent which platform a player within FIFA and EA Social are playing on. These icons already exist within FIFA 22\u2019s cross-play test and will be expanded to include more platforms, and additional game modes that now support cross-play within FIFA 23. The icons will also be present when opening and engaging within EA Social. When using the widget, players will be able to identify those who are currently playing on the same platform as themselves, with all other platforms appearing as a generic platform icon. These icons will appear to the left of any platform player name or EA Account ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Players will be able to see additional information of others they have added as a friend to EA Social or their local-platform friends list by highlighting the player and observing the details on the far right of the UI. These details include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Online Status (only EA titles if cross-platform friend only)<\/li><li>Lobby Status (within FIFA)<\/li><li>Invite compatibility (if they are incompatible players)<\/li><li>Access additional Player Actions<ul><li>Mute<\/li><li>Remove Friend<\/li><li>Block<\/li><li>Report<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-12-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1456\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-12-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cross1\" class=\"wp-image-46248\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Game Invites &#8211; Receiving and Notifications<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within EA Social, a player will be able to send and receive game invites from players on the same platform as well as cross-platform invites. This will allow players to find invites in one central location, without the need to navigate elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-14-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1456\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-14-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cross12\n\" class=\"wp-image-46249\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When an invite is sent from the same platform, players will receive the standard platform-specific invite notification on their screen that can be accepted or declined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, an additional invitation is also sent through EA Social. No on screen notification appears for the EA Social invite when it has been sent from the same platform, but players are able to find the invite within the Game Invites tab in EA Social. A red indicator badge will appear on the EA Social widget, which is found in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The red badge informs the player that they\u2019ve received an invitation through EA Social and it can be viewed by following the on screen button prompt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a game invitation is received that is cross-platform, the invite will only be seen within EA Social. When received, EA Social displays an on screen notification that enables players to accept or decline the invite. Notifications from EA Social can appear throughout the game, and also while in gameplay, but can only be interacted with in gameplay through a specific button callout to not interfere with the match being played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Players have the option to manage when they\u2019d like to see certain notifications through the widget&#8217;s settings. The three available notification settings are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Allow notifications to display whenever they come in.<\/li><li>Do not show notifications during gameplay.<\/li><li>Never show notifications.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Game Invites &#8211; Sending<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process of sending game mode invites is also being updated in FIFA 23. With the introduction of EA Social, it will now replace all existing invite flows across the game for both modes with and without cross-play functionality. Most notably, there are two invite flows that will now appear in-game. The first flow is called the full EA Social invite experience and is implemented within VOLTA FOOTBALL and Pro Club Drop-ins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This flow brings up the full EA Social screen and allows players to navigate the full functionality of EA Social. This will allow players to accept, search and request new friends prior to sending an invite all within the same screen. This invitation flow also shows whether the target game mode is able to support cross-play game invitations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second invite flow is called the EA Social friend picker invite. This flow is featured across the remaining game modes that support invites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-10-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1433\" height=\"802\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-10-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cross13\" class=\"wp-image-46250\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As seen above, this flow is a refined version of the full EA Social invite experience. You will only be able to select and send an invite to a valid player within your friends list. This list has already filtered out invalid players automatically due to reasons such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Game Mode does not support cross-play.<\/li><li>Player doesn\u2019t have a FUT Club.<\/li><li>Player has not opted into cross-play .<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Friend Requests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very similar to Game Invites, friend requests will surface any request sent to you by another player through EA Social. As mentioned above, platform-specific friend lists and EA Social are unique, but both are displayed within the Friends tab. When a EA Social friend request is received, a notification will appear on screen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This notification, if interacted with, allows the recipient to accept or decline the EA Social friend request. If the request is missed, or the prompt has not been interacted with before it disappears, the red indicator will appear on the EA Social widget. When opened, the request can be found in the Friend Requests tab.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once accepted through either path, the new EA network friend connection will appear on your friends list with their platform identification icon, platform name and online\/offline status.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Player Search<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As previously mentioned, EA Social will automatically display all existing platform friends on the Friends tab. In order to play with people on other platforms, you will need to search and add them through EA Social.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-16-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1456\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-16-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cross16\" class=\"wp-image-46251\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Players can also search for, and find any of their local platform friends through EA Social, with the purpose of sending those friends an EA friend connection request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-3-16x9-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1456\" height=\"819\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fifaultimateteam.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/f23-crossplay-pitchnotes-3-16x9-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cross17\" class=\"wp-image-46252\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When searching for a friend, the search is not case sensitive, but it does require an exact match to successfully find a player. When a player launches FIFA 23 for the first time, cross-play will be enabled automatically. You can change this by toggling the on-screen notification that appears when you reach the main menu after the first launch of the game.Note that for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players, they will only have cross-play functionality enabled during the first launch if their console level settings allow cross-play. You may also opt in\/out through the online settings screen which can be found both within FUT, VOLTA FOOTBALL and the FIFA main menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lastly, EA Social settings will navigate a player to the opt in\/out flow if interacted with through EA Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note that players who opt-out of cross-play could potentially take longer to find an opponent when matchmaking, as opting out of cross-play naturally reduces the amount of potential opponents that could be found.
