Whether it’s Manchester City climbing to the top of the Premier League or Paris Saint-Germain to the top of Ligue 1, the payoff for reaching the top is unequivocal. We’re looking to recreate that magic and rework our Leaderboards from the ground up to better reflect the effort that a player puts in, and give more opportunities for players to reach impactful milestones.
Here, we’ll go over the high-level details you’ll want to know to make the most of the Leaderboards and understand how they work.
Reward Tiers
Reward Tiers are something that players in the top 250 of the VSA and H2H Leaderboards are familiar with, but it’s not very transparent that there are cutoffs, or what you earn for being there. Now, there will be clearly defined Reward Tiers throughout the entire Leaderboard, with different rewards depending on how high of a Reward Tier you’re in. 1st place will earn the best rewards, a small group of top players (e.g. top 50) will earn secondary level rewards, a larger group further down (e.g. top 25%) will earn tertiary rewards, and so on and so forth.
Leaderboard Score
There are various ways that players are able to earn Score for the Leaderboards they participate in, as well as ways to modify the amount earned. Since every event is different, the ways to earn Score for the Leaderboards will change based on the event. Sometimes, it’ll be based on an amount of wins, sometimes it’ll be based on earning different amounts based on the outcome of a match. And sometimes you’ll earn more based on the players you build your team with when engaging with the event. Ultimately, the better you perform in events and align with the Score bonuses, the more Score you’ll earn and the higher you’ll reach on the leaderboard!
Leaderboard Groups [Editor Note: AKA Cohorting]
Unlike previous seasons, Leaderboards are no longer exclusively a global event with everyone playing the game competing against each other. While those will still frequently be a part of the game, we’ll now also have smaller Leaderboards where players will fight for top spots in a more level playing field. Examples of this would come from competing with everyone that’s in the same VSA division as you, or competing with only 1,000 other people that have a similar OVR. On top of that, a single event may have multiple different types of Leaderboards all going on at the same time!
Leaderboard Timing
With some Events lasting only a few days, and some lasting weeks, we wanted to get our Leaderboards to align with this, and, as a result, you’ll be seeing Leaderboards of all different lengths! Sometimes you’ll see a Leaderboard spanning the entire event and granting rewards only after it’s over. Other times you’ll have a leaderboard that reoccurs every week!

Delayed Leaderboard Rewards
While many people will want their rewards for their hard-earned effort as soon as possible, players can expect to see delays to when the rewards are distributed. We’ll be taking some time at the end of some of our Leaderboards to keep the integrity of the Leaderboard intact; we want to try and only reward the users that earn through valid and fair play. We’ve heard your complaints regarding fair play on Leaderboards and we’ll be working hard to make sure the integrity of the new Leaderboards are kept up to a higher standard.
