During the last few hours the persistent rumor from Brazil of a likely exclusion of Colo Colo from Copa Libertadores has created many discontent among supporters of the Chilean club.
The rumors that created this chaos would be the exclusivity contracts that some clubs in South America have signed with Konami (including Colo Colo), the software house producing Pro Evolution Soccer and rival of EA Sports producing the FIFA series (owners of the Copa Libertadores 2020 rights).
In the end, Colo Colo denied these rumors through Harold Mayne-Nicholls, the club’s executive vice president, who said the following:
“For about a month our lawyers have been in constant contact with Conmebol, since we have a contract with Konami while the league has a contract with another company that produces a football video game, EA Sports. It is true there is a problem , but our participation in the Libertadores Cup is not at risk. We will follow in the footsteps of the Brazilian clubs, because they too have a contract with Konami and it is clear that they have more experience regarding this type of problem. “
