According to the statements reported by the uol.com.br site, it seems that the Brazilian club of Palmeiras has rejected Konami‘s latest contractual proposal to acquire the exclusive license of the Sao Paulo club.
The club’s intention is to sign a rights transfer agreement with both EA Sports and Konami in order to give the brand greater visibility. Apparently the club has declared that it has managed to obtain the consent from its players to use the image rights and be able to sell them to the Canadian software house. In this way the risks of a new legal action, as happened in the past with famous players such as Edmundo, could be zero.
Palmeiras is also trying to influence other Brazilian clubs to make sure that the Brazilian top league can be included in the official FIFA 21 roster.
To date Konami has declared that it has signed a contract with the Brazilian federation to acquire the rights of Brasileirao. In the list of licensed clubs, however, only Palmeiras is missing, who as we have already reported refused the new offer for the transfer of exclusive rights for the next three years.
At this point, everything suggests that Palmeiras himself has actually decided to refuse the advances of the Japanese software house to enter into a negotiation with EA Sports.
