On June 14th, Electronic Arts released the Icon cards for the Greats Of The Game team in the Ultimate Team mode of the football simulator EA Sports FC 24.
These special cards can receive overall and stats upgrades based on the performance of their respective national teams during Euro 2024 or Copa America, which are currently ongoing.
As is customary, the Canadian software house released the upgrades at the end of yesterdayโs matches but made an error with the special version of former defender Nemanja Vidiฤ.
Electronic Arts was supposed to upgrade the card of former full-back Joan Capdevila, not the Serbianโs. Indeed, Serbia only scored one goal in their match against Slovenia, which is not enough to meet one of the pre-set objectives for the promo. On the other hand, Spain achieved the objective with their goal against Italy, so the upgrade should have been applied to the Spanish playerโs card.
This mistake caused changes in the market prices of the cards. Those who decided to sell the Serbianโs card after the matches then discovered that its price had increased by around 500,000 coins due to an upgrade that was not supposed to be released.
The Canadian software house has not yet issued an official statement, but based on past incidents, we can anticipate that the Spanish playerโs card will receive the scheduled upgrade as planned. However, there will be no downgrade for the Serbian card, and no further upgrades will be given even if Serbia meets one of the pre-set objectives.
