In recent hours, a controversy has erupted within the EA Sports FC 25 community due to a bug that allowed many fans of the series to obtain the Winter Wildcards card of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland for Ultimate Team mode for free.
Specifically, anyone who completed the “Season 4 Weekly Play” objective after 6:00 PM on Friday, 3 January, received this version of the Manchester City forward, valued at over 1 million Coins.
At 8:00 PM, the game developer issued a statement informing the community that the bug had been fixed, but by then, the “damage” was already done. Thousands of players had already managed to acquire this special card without spending a dime.
Electronic Arts has not mentioned any compensation, merely stating that the issue has been resolved. The community’s reaction, however, was swift. The controversy arose because players who completed the objectives either before last night or after the bug fix did not receive the same reward.
Additionally, with the Champions Weekend League fast approaching, many players found themselves facing opponents using Haaland’s Winter Wildcards card, which is currently one of the strongest in Ultimate Team mode.
As happened last year with the issue surrounding Lionel Messi’s TOTY card, it is unlikely that Electronic Arts will compensate all players who completed the objectives in question. This has led to widespread discontent and criticism, which are unlikely to subside anytime soon.
Lastly, a reminder: the NumeroFUT promo team is currently available in packs, and you can view the official overalls and stats of the team’s special cards.
