EA Sports FC 26 is preparing to shake up the competitive side of Ultimate Team with a brand-new feature arriving alongside The World’s Game update: FUT Champions Tokens.
The new system is set to completely change how players earn and choose their Weekend League rewards, giving users more flexibility, more control, and a fresh way to progress throughout the season.
Here’s a full breakdown of how FUT Champions Tokens will work in EA FC 26 Ultimate Team.
What Are FUT Champions Tokens in EA FC 26?
Starting from Season 8, players competing in the popular Champions Weekend League will be able to earn a new currency called FUT Champions Tokens.
These Tokens can then be spent inside the brand-new FUT Champions Store, an exclusive shop dedicated to competitive Ultimate Team rewards.
Unlike the current rewards structure, this system introduces a more flexible progression model. Instead of relying entirely on weekly pack luck, players will now be able to accumulate Tokens over time and decide when and how to spend them.
According to EA Sports, the goal is to give players “greater choice over Champions rewards regardless of skill level.”
FUT Champions Store: Exclusive Rewards and Red Player Picks
One of the biggest additions arriving with the update is the introduction of the FUT Champions Store.
The store will feature a wide range of rewards, including:
- Exclusive Ultimate Team items
- Valuable in-game rewards
- A rotating weekly selection of special Red FUT Champions Player Items
- Bigger long-term rewards for players who save Tokens across multiple weekends
The rotating Red Player Items are expected to become one of the most desirable rewards available in Ultimate Team, especially for competitive players looking to strengthen their squads with rare versions of top footballers.
In addition, the Ultimate TOTS has already been leaked, with the full list of players available at the following link.
More Freedom for Casual and Competitive Players
EA Sports has confirmed that the FUT Champions Tokens system has been designed to reward every type of player.
Players With Fewer Weekend League Wins
For players who manage only a handful of wins each weekend, the system will still provide meaningful progression.
Users will have two choices:
- Spend Tokens immediately on weekly rewards
- Save Tokens across several Weekend Leagues to unlock higher-value rewards later in the season
This creates a more accessible progression path even for casual Ultimate Team players.
When it comes to accessing the transfer market via the Web App and Companion App, things get a bit more complicated. We’ve covered all the details in the official guide published on our pages.
Players With Higher Weekend League Finishes
Competitive players achieving stronger Weekend League results will also benefit from the new structure.
Higher-rank finishes will continue to award:
- Additional Coins
- More FUT Champions Tokens
- Greater flexibility when choosing rewards
EA Sports believes this approach will allow top-level players to customise rewards more effectively instead of relying solely on fixed reward packs.
FUT Champions Tokens Aim to Give Players More Control
One of the key objectives behind the new feature is player freedom.
EA Sports explained that FUT Champions Tokens should give users “greater control over the weekends you choose to play in.”
This means players may no longer feel forced to compete every single weekend out of fear of missing rewards, since Tokens can be accumulated and managed strategically over an entire season.
For many Ultimate Team fans, this could represent one of the biggest quality-of-life improvements introduced in recent years.
