After the announcement from FIFAe to cancel this season’s official competitions, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the response of some FIFA 21 Pro Players was not long in coming.
The sense of disappointment is general, but most of all Msdossary expressed an incredible disappointment and did not spare the organizers from heavy criticism.
“As an athlete and a world champion of this game, I’m extremely disappointed of the cancellation of the FIFA World Cup and eNations Cup. From my point of view, the people behind the event has poorly managed this event and did not even care about the consequences of their decision.”
The former world champion then added: “We’ve been following other sport events that took place during this pandemic with significant number of participants and attendees such as the EURO and the Olympics. Everyone in the FIFA community (Players, Coaches, Teams, Investors, etc..). I have put massive efforts for the goal of participating in the World Cup finals. For instance, I had to miss my Grandmother’s funeral just to compete in the playoffs and secure a spot in the World Cup although I was not feeling well at all. If they have put enough efforts they would definitely have a solution, I personally offered them the opportunity to host this event in Saudi with less restrictions but they have not even looked into it In. In conclusion, I still can’t believe how hosting a global event with 32 participants ONLY is not possible!!!“
The disappointment of Msdossary and the other Pro Players who managed to qualify for the finals of the FIFAe World Cup and the FIFAe Nations Cup can be understandable. To get to certain levels you need to train constantly and make many sacrifices but at the same time we must not underestimate the enormous danger and the risky consequences that could arise as a result of a pandemic outbreak.
It is an understatement to talk about only 32 participants because the organization of such important events, even if they are videogame events, also requires the work of all the professionals who are behind the scenes and who do not show themselves on the television cameras. Furthermore, comparing events such as the European Championships and the Olympics, which have been organized by thousands of insiders and which have not equally managed to avoid outbreaks, to FIFAe events is totally out of place and unreasonable.
Even the proposal to run the FIFAe World Cup and the FIFAe Nations Cup in Saudi Arabia does not limit the possibility of contagion, the federation has explicitly stated that it cannot guarantee the safety of the participants and professionals, therefore less severe restrictions would not have certainly solved the main problem.
