FIFA 22: What changes in the FUT Champions Weekend League and Division Rivals

We have arrived at the last stage of approaching the release of FIFA 22 which is expected for next October 1st and today we will reveal the many new features of the popular Ultimate Team mode.

Azlan Mustapha, producer and developer of the Ultimate Team mode, showed us a preview of all the content that we will find at the launch of FIFA 22.

The graphics of the menu have been revolutionized, each section is much more intuitive and immediate than what we have been used to seeing in the last chapters of the series. The first substantial change that immediately caught our attention is the new progression system in the Division Rivals. Now each division is marked by a series of timed objectives that will allow us to climb the various ranks of the division we belong to and which will allow us to redeem various rewards at the end of the week. The more ranks we can unlock, the closer we get to promotion in the next division. Furthermore, once we reach a Check-Point in the event that we fail to complete the next one, we will not lose the rank and the rewards already achieved.

Division Rivals

In the Division Rivals we have been used to the classic 10 divisions for some years now, in FIFA 22 we will find a new division that will be indicated with the letter M (or Elite). Division M is subdivided into 3 other divisions which will be indicated with the letters M1, M2 and M3. The placement will be decreed by the number of objectives that you will be able to complete over the course of the Season and by the Skill Rating. Only the best players in the world will land in this division and obviously, they will guarantee much more substantial rewards than those that we can redeem in the traditional divisions. Of course, qualifying for this Elite Division is a fundamental parameter to be able to access the Global Series. Seasons are much more related to Division Rivals, in fact at the end of each Season the positioning in the different divisions will also be reset. At the start of each Season, progression resets to a lower Division for all players. The Division a player rolls back to will depend on which Division they finished the previous Season in. Each Season will last approximately 6 Weeks.

FUT Champions Weekend League

The ultimate team competition was also heavily modified. Now accessing the FUT Champions Weekend League apparently seems to be more elaborate but at the same time, it has been made more balanced. During the week you will need to acquire points in order to have access to the Play-Off Champions which are available throughout the week. Once you have redeemed access to the Play-Off you will have 5 games ( Provisional ) available to reach the useful score that will allow you to participate in the final stages of the FUT Champions Weekend League which will take place only on the weekend during which you will have to play 20 games. Obviously, the greater the number of victories, the greater the rewards you will go to redeem. It should be emphasized that even the placement in the playoffs will guarantee rewards based on the results achieved, so even in the event of failure to qualify for the final stages, there will still be rewards.

A change to the Champions Qualification process is a limited entry system that allows you to decide when and how to compete in FUT Champions. Within each FUT Season you will have a limited number of attempts at the Champions Competition with a single entry good for an attempt at the Champions Play-Offs, and a Champions Final if you qualify.

In the Finals, where you finish will decide your additional rewards. If you finish all of your matches in the Finals, you can claim your rewards instantly. If you still have matches to be played, your rewards will be granted at the end of the competition, based on where you finished.

Matchmaking Co-Op

During the presentation, Azlan Mustapha announced in the Ultimate team mode there will also be new online friendlies, and new Co-Op game modes and that more details will be revealed in the coming weeks. But that’s not all, even the stadiums can be customized in a more profound way with content that will be released during the season.

In addition to the interesting news regarding the Division Rivals and the FUT Champions Weekend League in FIFA 22, the Heroes of FUT will also arrive.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team redesigns how you compete in Division Rivals and FUT Champions to create a more accessible way to test your skills and progress against other players, gives you even more ways to make your club your own with new depths of customisation both on and off the pitch, and introduces FUT Heroes – the return of some of football’s bestloved players.

FUT HEROES

Celebrate some of football’s most memorable players with FUT Heroes, new items that represent the unforgettable moments that made them fan favourites. Whether it’s Robbie Keane lifting the League Cup in 2008, Diego Milito’s brace in the 2010 UEFA Champions League final to cement an Inter treble, or Mario Gomez’s goal to set up his team’s 2007 Bundesliga title victory, FUT Heroes offer new squad-building opportunities with league-specific chemistry and a chance to recreate the nostalgic moments that earned them a place in the squad of FUT 22 Heroes. In addition, other Heroes were announced in August: Mostovoi, Dudek, Kohler, Ljungberg, Cordoba, Di Natale, Ginola, Cole, Solskjaer and Ricken.

We can be satisfied with the number of innovations introduced in the Ultimate Team mode, we had no doubts about the presence of substantial changes that would somehow bring a breath of fresh air that in some respects could also bring new enthusiasm to the community that follows in a more “fierce” way this mode. At the same time, these new introductions could make the gaming experience more difficult for gamers who play just for fun and who don’t really like the competitive side of FIFA.
