EA Sports, with a press release, has released the Official Details of the Path To Glory cards of the World Cup that are now available in the packs of the popular FIFA 23 Ultimate Team mode.
It’s time for national team dreams to become reality. The FIFA World Cup 2022 is here, with 32 Path to Glory player items that level up with each step that their country takes towards the trophy. The further they go in realising their ambitions on the pitch at the FIFA World Cup, the better they’ll become in your Ultimate Team squad.
How it Works
Each Path to Glory player item one from each of the 32 nations competing at this year’s FIFA World Cup will be eligible for upgrades based on their country’s real-world performance. Each player item starts the campaign with a base upgrade and can receive additional boosts if their team progresses to each successive stage. Progression to the Round of 16 and Quarter Finals will each earn a +1 In-Form Upgrade. Progression to the Semi-Finals will earn player items 5* Weak Foot. Progression to the Finals will earn player items 5* Skill Moves. Winning the FIFA World Cup™ will earn players another +1 In-Form Upgrade, along with three select traits tailored to that player’s position. Once a player’s nation is eliminated, they will not earn any more upgrades.

When will items be upgraded in-game?
Path to Glory item upgrades will occur the day after each stage of the tournament has been completed.
- Round of 16 upgrades starting from December 3rd.
- Quarter Final upgrades starting from December 7th.
- Semi Final upgrades starting from December 12th.
- Final upgrades starting from December 15th.
- Winner upgrades starting from December 19th.
Teams that qualify for the Round of 16 after just two group games will receive early upgrades, starting on November 28th.
Does the player have to play for their nation in order to receive upgrades?
Path to Glory player items will receive upgrades based on their nation’s progress regardless of whether or not they play at the FIFA World Cup.

Can a player receive upgrades once their nation has been knocked out of the FIFA World Cup?
Path to Glory player items will only receive upgrades by progressing to the next round. If they’ve received an upgrade for progressing to a given round and their nation loses/is knocked out, they will not receive any further upgrades.
Is there an upgrade for winning the Third Place Play Off?
Path to Glory player items that reach the Third Place Play Off match will have lost in the Semi Finals, eliminating them from any future upgrades.
What happens if a player already has 5* Weak Foot or 5* Skill Moves when they reach those upgrade stages?
If a player item already has 5*WF and they reach the Semi Final, they’ll receive a +1 In-Form Upgrade instead. Similarly, if a player item already has 5*SM and they reach the Final, they’ll receive a +1 In-Form Upgrade instead.
What traits will be given to the player who wins the FIFA World Cup?
The three select traits will depend on the player’s position and existing traits.
