After the accusations of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his agent Mino Raiola, this morning another unpleasant news came from the web for Electronic Arts. On November 16th a new federal lawsuit was notified in the state of California against the Canadian software house.

Three fans of the series have started a legal practice claiming that EA Sports uses algorithms that distort match results and disseminates false information with deceptive advertisements to incentivize the sale of FIFA Points in the popular FIFA 21 Ultimate Team mode.

The lawsuit claims that EA intentionally and “illegally” tricks FIFA players to purchase FIFA Points to open loot boxes, available in the FUT 21 store, “using artificial intelligence technologies that dynamically regulate the difficulty of the game.”

The main allegation brought by the plaintiffs is that EA does not disclose information about the presence of scripts in FIFA 21, and what impact it has on matches. “Many players are unaware that EA uses technologies such as Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment and Adaptive Difficulty. These technologies affect results and lead to greater engagement,” reads the lawsuit, filed in November.

These features, DDA and AD, are designed to adjust and vary player stats during matches to influence their performance and consequently match result.

EA responded to Zajonc v. making the following statements: “”We believe the claims are baseless and misrepresent our games, and we will defend.”

If on the one hand the sales of FIFA 21 and the microtransactions of the FUT 21 mode seem to be going well, on the other EA Sports cannot get out of accusations and lawsuits.

FIFA 21 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and in December 4th for the Next Gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X platforms Keep on following us also through our social Facebook and Twitter for other news and information.
