According to an interview given by producer John Shepherd to IGN, mixed teams will only bring a breath of fresh air to the popular mode EA Sports FC 24.
When the interviewer highlighted the discontent expressed by the community after receiving this news, the producer emphasized that in EA Sports FC 24, there are many game modes where women’s and men’s football are separated. She implied that if this idea is not liked, players can enjoy those modes instead, suggesting that they don’t have to solely play the Ultimate Team mode.
It’s a somewhat contradictory response, considering that besides gameplay, the main innovations were introduced in the Ultimate Team mode. Not to mention that 90% of fans predominantly play this mode, making it Electronic Arts’ “cash cow.”
We’ll see what happens after the release when the community, controller in hand, can truly understand if this change will bring substantial benefits or if the women players’ cards will be set aside after just a few weeks.
“We have a vision of connecting not just the 150 million fans we have now, but a billion fans,” he said. “We want this game and this brand, this club, this ecosystem, to welcome everybody. In terms of our decision around how we’re integrating women’s football into Ultimate Team, we feel really strongly about that.”
“There are other modes of play, such as Kick Off, where it’s more about that club playing together against another club, but Ultimate Team to us is a mode where you can have a mix of players and you can build the best team.” Shepherd says.
