We wanted to check in with the community on whatโ€™s been happening since we last touched on the teamโ€™s efforts around gameplay responsiveness.

Specialized Telemetry Tool Update

As mentioned in the previous Pitch Notes update, we have been using a specialized telemetry tool to provide gameplay responsiveness information from a selected group of players for our investigations. We have recently expanded the group of players who we are engaging with this tool and will be continuing to expand the group as needed.

As a result of this expansion, you may start to see aspects of this tool, such as a post match survey, show up in some playerโ€™s streams or on social media. We wanted to make sure there was no confusion over what that was and why only some players are seeing it.

Changes Made Since Last Update

Since our last update, our team, using the information gathered from our investigations, has made changes to the networking infrastructure that is used in the following modes on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC:

  • FUT Champions
  • FUT Division Rivals
  • FUT Online Draft
  • FIFA Pro Clubs
  • FIFA Co-Op Seasons

Here is a brief summary of some of the changes that have been made since the last update:

  • Additional network and data center configuration changes that have improved efficiency and capacity, with a primary focus on our European, North American and South American server locations.
  • Multiple individual hardware changes due to specific hardware issues in various server locations around the world.
  • Upgraded software on all server locations around the world.
Looking Forward

While we believe that these changes and previous changes will positively impact gameplay responsiveness, our team is still focused on our investigations into this subject and enacting changes where we can. As we gain additional information, such as from the increased roll out of our specialized telemetry tool, and see opportunities for improvements we will look to continue to make changes in this space.

As we had previously noted, itโ€™s important to understand that there are many things that go into a playerโ€™s connection, and ultimately the gameplay responsiveness that they experience in a match, based on this, each update will not enact change for every player. We continue to work towards the goal of the combined impact of these changes improving the experience for all players in the FIFA community.

Our investigations and work on this continues. We remain dedicated to improving the experience for our community when playing online. We will continue to provide updates when possible and available.

FIFA 19 is available from September 28, 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch. Keep on following us also through our social Facebook and Twitter for other news and information.
