Learn more about FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) Friendlies and the ways you can play online or with your friends.

What are FUT Friendlies?

FUT Friendlies are a fun and relaxed way to play FIFA. Choose from a variety of different House Rules to play against the AI, your friends both locally or online, or random opponents online.

Ways to play FUT Friendlies

If you want to get on the pitch for a quick match, playing FUT Friendlies is the way to go.

You have the option of how you want to play and who you want to play against:

  • Couch play โ€“ Play locally with your friends, or against the AI, from your couch
  • Play a friend โ€“ Play online against your friends
  • Play online โ€“ Play matches against random opponents online

How matches work in FUT Friendlies

When you play matches in FUT Friendlies, theyโ€™re a little different than other matches youโ€™d play in FIFA Ultimate Team.

That means that when you play FUT Friendlies:

  • Your matches donโ€™t consume contracts or fitness on your Players
  • The matches you play donโ€™t count towards your Club record
  • Injuries and red cards donโ€™t carry over
  • Loan Items wonโ€™t be consumed.
    • For example, you can use a Loan Item with 1 match remaining in a FUT Friendlies match, and it would not use their final remaining match.

Youโ€™ll still get basic match Coin rewards for all FUT Friendlies matches that you play.

FUT Friendlies match types

Want to know more about some of the different types of FUT Friendlies matches you can play in FIFA 20? Check out their descriptions here:

Classic Match

This is a traditional 11v11 match with the usual rules.

King of the Hill

In King Of The Hill, Players battle for possession inside of marked control zones. The longer a Player can maintain the ball in a control zone for, the more they can boost the number of points their next goal will be worth.

The boost will gradually reduce when a Player is not controlling the ball inside a control zone. Goals scored without any boost will not be worth any points.

There are no fouls in King Of The Hill.

Mystery Ball

Whenever the ball is out of play, a new Mystery Ball is introduced and gives the attacking side a powerful boost.

There are five Mystery Balls, which can boost sprinting, shooting, dribbling, passing, or all four at once.

Mystery Balls can also have point values between 1 and 3, meaning that some goals will be worth more points than others.

Swaps

In Swaps, both teams randomly trade 3 Players with one another for the entire match. You can identify the swapped players on the pitch by the bibs that theyโ€™re wearing.

Scoring with a swapped Player is worth 2 points, and substitutions are unavailable.

Max Chemistry

Max Chemistry boosts all Players to 10 chemistry and all team chemistry to 100, allowing you to build squads without any negative chemistry effects.

Headers and Volleys

In Headers and Volleys, goals will only count from:

  • Headers
  • Volleys
  • Free kicks
  • Penalties

Survival

In Survival, a random Player from the scoring team gets ejected from the match, excluding the goalkeeper.

Long Range

Goals scored in Long Range matches that are inside the box will count as 1, while goals scored outside the box will count as 2.

No Rules

No Rules matches take the classic 11 v 11 game and remove offsides, fouls, and bookings.
