Andreas Wilsdorf, the producer behind the Career Mode featured in EA FC 27, has spoken out on X about an unpleasant incident that took place online.

Following the release of the Career Mode Deep Dive, which revealed numerous new features, some users vented their unjustified frustration by verbally attacking one of the development team’s UI (User Interface) designers.

Earlier today, the producer addressed the incident, condemning what had happened and stating that certain boundaries should never be crossed.

“Unfortunately, I have to address something. I saw one of our UI designers, who is also on Twitter, receive comments such as ‘retarded,’ ‘fat,’ ‘disgusting,’ and so on,” Andreas Wilsdorf said.

The EA Sports FC producer firmly condemned this type of behavior: “To be clear, this kind of thing is not acceptable in any way. It’s perfectly fine to be unhappy with the UI design. It’s fair to express criticism. The moment you start insulting someone is the moment you’ve crossed a line.”

Wilsdorf also highlighted the commitment of the development team: “Everyone working on Career Mode is passionate about the mode. All of the developers appreciate feedback and put a great deal of passion into their work, doing everything they can to make it the best it can be.”

Finally, he addressed the community with an appeal: “So let’s keep criticism constructive, so that we can have a respectful dialogue with each other.”

Incidents like this should never happen. Criticism is a natural part of the relationship between developers and fans, but personal insults can never be justified. It remains to be seen whether Electronic Arts will decide to take stronger action against those who cross the line in order to protect its employees and encourage a more respectful dialogue within the community.

It is worth remembering that, during the past week, Electronic Arts not only released the Career Mode Deep Dive but also published a Gameplay Deep Dive showcasing some of the new gameplay features coming to EA FC 27.
