With the trailer and Deep Dive released just moments ago, Electronic Arts has unveiled all the new features coming to the Ultimate Team mode in the latest installment of the football simulation, EA FC 27.
Following the Gameplay and Career Deep Dive presentations, today EA released the Deep Dive dedicated to the series’ most played and most popular mode. Below is a complete overview of everything new in Football Ultimate Team, while we await further details about The Grounds.
After taking a quick look at the trailer, available at the bottom of this article, and reading through the Deep Dive, it immediately becomes clear that EA’s main objective has been to make the mode more immersive and engaging.
Let’s begin with the FUT Gallery, which closely resembles a collectible album. In addition to preserving some of the most memorable moments from your Ultimate Team season, it will also allow you to claim rewards by completing specific objectives.
Cards obtained from packs, purchased on the market, or earned through Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) will remain recorded in the FUT Gallery, even if they are no longer part of your club.
The FUT Gallery is organized by nationality, league, club, and campaign, making it easy to locate specific cards. More importantly, completing the various collections based on different criteria will allow you to unlock rewards throughout the season.
Completing FUT Gallery collections will also reward players with Tokens, which can be spent in a dedicated store to redeem kits, packs, player cards, Evolutions, and much more.
Among the cards available in Ultimate Team will be the new Holographic Cards, which feature a unique rarity but do not provide any boosts to either overall rating or player attributes. These cards come in two versions: a standard version, featuring only a distinctive visual effect, and a Pristine version, which also includes the player’s name displayed with a stylized font. The Perfect version grants a higher score toward FUT Gallery collection progress.
For the first time in Ultimate Team history, player items will have only one rarity. All Gold, Silver, and Bronze cards will now be classified as Rare, while Non-Rare cards will no longer exist.
Another area that has received significant improvements is Squad Building Challenges. To make SBC completion faster and more intuitive, cards will now be highlighted, making them easier to identify. This system will also help players preserve higher-rated cards, as it becomes much easier to recognize lower-rated items when completing challenges.
Evolutions have also been expanded compared to previous editions. In EA FC 27, a single Evolution will offer multiple upgrade paths, allowing players to improve specific attributes. In addition, it is now possible to preview the final result of a card by selecting multiple Evolutions consecutively, making it possible to plan and create a customized Evolution chain.
Completing the Evolutions section is the new PlayStyles Lab Hub, available from the very first Ultimate Team season. This feature allows players to choose the most suitable PlayStyle while building an evolved card. However, it is worth remembering that in EA FC 27, player items can now have a maximum of three PlayStyle+ traits, instead of the five allowed in previous editions.
Finally, let’s look at the rewards. This season, rewards will be distributed more frequently, although their individual value will be lower. Many rewards that were previously awarded on a weekly basis have been reduced because part of the reward structure has been moved to post-match rewards earned after every Ultimate Team match.
Over the past few hours, the complete list of licensed leagues and cup competitions that will be available at launch in EA Sports FC 27 has also been officially revealed.
Last week, Electronic Arts also shared important details regarding the pre-order bonuses included with every edition of the new football simulation, including the introduction of the new Ultimate Plus Edition.
EA also announced the brand-new Hall of FUT player items for Ultimate Team, featuring a squad of iconic footballers who have become fan favorites throughout the history of the series.
